This Anthropologie-inspired wedding feels, to me, like 8 years in the making. I first met Micheal (and his twin brother) in 2013. I had just transferred to Cape Girardeau (SEMO) to finish my undergrad. Little did I know, within weeks I would meet the Cox twins and my life, literally, would never be the same.
Matthew caught my eye early on and we started dating that October. As you might guess, when you date one twin, you are basically signing up to date the other, too. Michael became the ultimate 3rd wheel. Whether it was to go to the theatre, a college sporting event, or even holidays with my family, Michael was there. Looking back, I don’t think I would change that. Matthew always felt like a package deal, I thought it was sweet.
Fast forward to our wedding in 2016, Michael and Matthew really struggled with separating. They had quite literally spent every moment together since birth. I sort of felt like I was breaking up the team. I knew it was my job to make sure they never felt like they were losing each other. So any holiday, special event, or just a trip to visit, Michael knew that he was always welcome in our home.
It wasn’t until this sweetheart named Makenzie came along, that Michael missed a Christmas at our house. I’m sure Matthew and I could see that day coming but it still took me by surprise. Surely they weren’t THAT “serious”! ha! As Michael and Makenzie grew closer, I started realizing that we weren’t losing a brother but gaining a sister (which the Cox family isn’t used to).
okay…. I’m officially crying.
The point of the matter is that these two mean the world to our little family. Their relationship with Christ is so evident and their wedding day was so full of joy because of it. We may have seen high winds and rain that seemed to never end but we also saw many prayers answered in these two becoming one!
Michael and Makenzie, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing our clan to play small parts in your big day. We love you!
Would you believe me if I told you it was POURING during these shots?!
this portion of the ceremony was so precious.
my heart <3
y’all… we saw lots and lots of rain on Friday
Makenzie and her daddy surprised the guests with a fun little dance during the daddy-daughter dance!
Makenzie got this adorable jacket at one of her showers this spring. Love the Mickey pearls!
