Ever have those times where you just can’t believe the thought of something monumental in your life? That happened to me yesterday. I watched as my dear friend’s fiance drove up to our engagement session location in HER car. I’m not kidding y’all, I had to turn away so I didn’t cry. Just seeing your best friend entering her next chapter of life is so surreal.
I guess to understand how special this was for me, I have to give you some background on our friendship. When you say you’ve known someone since before you could walk, that’s an understatement for us. Our moms are best friends. Like, finish each other’s sentences friends. Buy the same home decor type friends. Dress the same unintentionally friends. Jess and I were thrown together at birth and there hasn’t been time to look back! As we’ve gotten older, things have changed. We don’t get to see each other as much, we aren’t always the best at connecting but we can bet on when we do see each other, we pick up like no time has passed!
As you can imagine, we have talked about our weddings, our husbands, and our future kids since…well… forever! So when I saw this little romance start up my best friend antennas when up! Next thing you know, Logan has popped the question and my girl is getting married! AHHH
We started their sweet engagement session at Farraway Farms in Bluford, Illinois. This gorgeous 1,300-acre farm is full of ponds, rolling hills, and Grayson’s favorite, cows! All 5 of us (Matthew and Gray came along) jumped in the farm truck and Logan took us around to all sorts of locations with beautiful scenery!
After our time at Farraway, we made our way east to Dahlgren to finish up our session at Logan’s home and ranch. More cows, more hills and a sweet pup, Nova.
I’m so thankful for them allowing me to capture their engagement photos as I won’t be able to photograph their wedding day. I’ll be 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant and I just couldn’t risk leaving them picture less on their special day! I will, however (Lord and baby willing) be standing beside Jessa as she becomes a wife and for that, I couldn’t be more honored!
Enjoy some favorites from their sunny day!
Lots of love,
Alaina
Beautiful job! I hope that baby of yours holds off a bit so you get to be in the wedding!
These are GORGEOUS!! The light is perfect! And I love the cowboy hat and dog 🙂
I absolutely LOVE these Alaina and how special that you got to capture this beautiful session for your best friend!! It’s such a pity you can’t capture their wedding because that would’ve been SO special…but I totally get why you can’t. Fantastic job – I’m sure they LOVED these!!
What an adorable couple! I love their fur-baby 💕
