A few weeks ago we had some scheduling issues beyond our control that pushed our 2019-2020 Senior Street Team and me way out of our comfort zone.

I had to quickly come up with a shoot concept to replace one we were having to reschedule. A photographer that I follow had shared recently about The Beauty Project that she held with a group of girls from her area. I loved the message, the images and the vulnerability it created. So I decided that I would create a similar shoot with our SST girls and asked that they each invited another student to participate.

The basic idea of the session was to create images that were raw, real and untouched. The girls were asked to wear a simple outfit of jeans and a white top of some sort and apply no makeup. They were then instructed to write a short response on body positivity, confidence or a way that they had overcome an obstacle, whatever it may be.

I don’t want to say too much, as I want the images to speak for themselves. What I do want to say is how proud I was of each and every one of them for stepping outside of society’s “normal” and being vulnerable in sharing their hearts with me (and now with you).
