Its A Snow Day In Southern Illinois

Happy Snow Day from the Cox Family! We were planning on traveling out of state to visit family this weekend up with the forecast of 6+ inches of snow here and even more where we were headed, we thought it was a good idea to stay home. Thankfully that meant some downtime that we took full advantage of.

The snow started falling at about 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon and never let up. We stayed in last night and watched from the living room as it began piling up! Due to an awesome Netflix series that we couldn’t stop watching, we were up WAYYYY past our bedtime. By the time we went to bed, we could barely open either of our exterior doors!

We knew there was rain coming which could ruin our hopes of playing out in the winter wonderland so we donned our layers (not at all glamorous) and headed outside early! Grayson is still a bit small/short so getting through the snow isn’t the easiest for him. That meant there was a lot of carrying, hand hold and picking him up off the ground. In the photos, you’ll see him with one arm stretched out in hopes that one of us would pick him up. he has been doing that for about a week and will even fall down in the house on purpose just so someone has to lend him a hand! HA! He is the funniest! We started a snowman but it was a lost cause…

Later in the afternoon, I got the hankering for snickerdoodles so we whipped some up real quick. I tried to get Grayson to help but he is still a bit too small to be very helpful. While those were chilling, I got the grand idea to make some homemade play-doh! Super easy and makes you feel pretty domestic if I do say so myself! Grayson wasn’t the biggest fan (he doesn’t really like things on his hands) so we plan on handing over the majority of it to our nieces!

Now we are finishing up dinner and tidying the house. Crazy how quickly a clean house gets messy when you are home all day taking it easy!

We hope you all have enjoyed the snow if you were lucky enough to get some! Have a great rest of your weekend!

Lots of love,

Alaina   He, not so discretely, let us know he was ready to go inside!

He was really over it by now, as you can see!

**MOM TIP: Little ones’ hands get cold fast, slow down the snow playing meltdown by wrapping their little hands in zip lock baggies and ducktape before putting them in their mittens!**
