This offseason I rounded up our favorite Southern Illinois friendors (friends + vendors) to create a few posts to help out my brides with some FAQs when it comes to wedding planning!
We will approach most of these convos in question-and-answer format and we hope it is super helpful for you!
Today, I am excited to chat bridal hair and makeup with the owners of BLEND Hair Lounge. Brooke and Mel are the mommas of a combined 5 boys (AHH!) but that all changed when Brooke found out she was pregnant with TWIN GIRLS (Double AHHH!!!). Together they dreamt of opening a swanky salon with major lounge vibes. When I heard about their dream becoming a reality I knew I needed to chat with them about their services and what made their new salon so unique!
Q: How far in advance do I need to book my wedding date, for hair and makeup service?
A: Surprisingly, we tend to hook up quickly for the prime wedding season. Which is May-June, and sept-nov, so we recommend booking your dates about a year in advance.
Q: What should I be looking for in a stylist/artist?
A: Find a stylist that fits the style you are looking for! Also, make sure they are helpful and knowledgeable.
Q: When should I book my hair and makeup trial?
A: 1 Month prior to your wedding day.
Q: Is there a deposit needed for your services?
A: Yes, we do require a deposit of $20 per service (see example below). This ensures that we have your date reserved, and we are covered if for some reason the bride cancels last minute.
$20/hair + $20/makeup
Q: What is the best way to prep my skin and hair for my trial?
A: The best updo hair is day-old hair. Fresh hair doesn’t hold curl well, so we prefer it to be a little bit dirty. For makeup, clean dry skin is best, we can do the rest of the skin prep before we start the makeup application.
Q: What is the difference between airbrush and traditional makeup?
A: Airbrush lasts longer and is more weatherproof. Traditional makeup is your own foundation applied for you, which will only last as long as stated on the label. Keep in mind that traditional makeup is better suited for mature skin.
Q: Do you travel to our getting ready location for your services?
A: We can provide services on location for a travel fee.
Q: What makes Blend Hair Lounge the best option for bridal and bridal party makeup?
A: At Blend, we strive for a lounge feel. Clients are welcome to get comfortable and relax. We offer a makeup room, with plenty of natural light and a soft vibe to feel more than beautiful on your special day! We also have catering options for Dances and Bridal parties.
